Nearly seven months ago, right here on this very blog, I posted with great joy a picture that was in line Arsenal’s table-topping performance. Unfortunately, over the next seven months, the club went through the worst, each misfortune setting the stage for the next one. Players kept getting injured, kids were fielded in desperation, takeover talks “cast the future in doubt”, all the while we just couldn’t score, just couldn’t. And at times, it looked like Aston Villa would shoot past us. Good thing there wasn’t electricity on matchdays.

Recently we’ve gone 18 games unbeaten in the league, and face Liverpool tonight on the wake of an FA Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea, the only loss in the past few months. We have two defenders and two strikers out injured; Eduardo could feature, Arshavin should be fresh, Sagna is back and Fabregas will certainly play. This would be our third game in eight days, while Liverpool have had a 6 day rest and are in contention for the title, a strong impetus to win this game and go 2 points clear. Nontheless, we’ll come back from Anfield with 3 points in the bag, and 3rd place at the back of our mind.
